How we collect fares, verify schedules, and source OFW and visa rules.

Every FlyPilipinas page presents fare brackets, route information, and visa, OFW employment, or balikbayan-box rules. This page documents how each data layer is collected, refreshed, verified, and corrected.

Fare data

Fare brackets come from the Travelpayouts Data API. Every Sunday at 03:00 UTC, an automated job refreshes the per-route minimum-price cache for the corridors covered by FlyPilipinas. Each entry is a point-in-time minimum — the lowest one-way fare for the cheapest cabin on the most recently sold inventory, expressed in PHP and USD-converted from the original offer when applicable.

We present brackets, not exact prices, because (a) inventory rolls over hourly, (b) different distribution channels see different prices, and (c) PHP/USD conversion depends on the rate at fetch time. Brackets ("from ₱X,XXX" / "typical ₱X,XXX–Y,YYY") reflect the trailing four-week minimum. Routes with fewer than three observations are marked "limited data".

Schedule and route data

Three sources, priority order:

  • Official airline route maps and IR filings — Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, AirAsia Philippines, Royal Air Philippines, Saudia, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Cathay Pacific, ANA, Korean Air, Singapore Airlines, United, Delta, Philippine Airlines, and other carriers with PH routes.
  • National regulators — CAAP (Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines), MIAA (Manila International Airport Authority), CAB (Civil Aeronautics Board).
  • Industry trade press — IATA, AAPA (Association of Asia Pacific Airlines), ch-aviation, route-launch announcements.

When sources disagree, regulator leads; airline claim noted as "announced, pending regulatory approval".

OFW employment and DMW data

OFW employment-contract conditions, recruitment-agency licensing, and POEA/DMW procedures are sourced from Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) (formerly POEA), OWWA (Overseas Workers Welfare Administration), and licensed recruitment-agency lists on the DMW portal. For specific deployment-country rules, we cross-check the destination's labour ministry (e.g., KSA Ministry of Human Resources, UAE MoHRE) and the relevant Philippine embassy POLO (Philippine Overseas Labor Office).

Balikbayan and customs data

Balikbayan-box rules, baggage-allowance updates, and BoC tax brackets come from Bureau of Customs (BoC) — Republic Act 10863 (CMTA) and the BoC's official Balikbayan-Box procedures page. For US-side TSA and CBP rules affecting US-PH balikbayan flights, we cite tsa.gov and cbp.gov directly.

Visa and consular data

Visa requirements come from destination embassy or consulate websites, IATA Timatic, and recent authoritative reporting. We also cite the Philippine DFA (Department of Foreign Affairs) for passport-renewal and Philippine-passport visa-free-country lists. Quarterly re-verification on high-volume routes (UAE, KSA, HK, US, JP); bi-annually on long tail.

Currency conventions

PHP as base currency with USD shown in parentheses where useful. Format: "₱X,XXX" with the standard peso symbol — we never use "P" or "PHP X" as a substitute. Conversions use the BSP (Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas) reference rate at the fare-fetch timestamp.

Update cadence

  • Weekly — Travelpayouts fare refresh (Sundays 03:00 UTC).
  • Monthly — Editorial freshness sweep. Price deltas >15% trigger re-verification.
  • Quarterly — DMW/OWWA rule changes, visa re-verification on UAE/KSA/HK/US/JP.
  • Bi-annually — Long-tail visa data; minor-airline schedules.

"Last verified" stamp — what it means

The "Last verified" date reflects when the data sources behind a specific page were last cross-checked. We do not bump the date for cosmetic edits, internal-link additions, or unrelated changes — only when an editor has re-confirmed at least the fare bracket and one external policy claim.

Corrections policy

Material errors get a public, dated correction note at the top of the affected article. Email [email protected]; corrections within 48 hours. Substantive corrections (wrong visa fee, wrong DMW rule, wrong balikbayan-box threshold) keep a dated note indefinitely.

Affiliate model and disclosures

FlyPilipinas earns a small commission when readers book through Aviasales, Hotellook, Skyscanner, Trip.com, Booking.com, AirHelp, and similar partners. The price you pay is identical with or without the affiliate link. No paid placement, no sponsored rankings, no advertorial. See affiliate disclosure.

What this methodology does NOT cover

We do not produce live booking quotes. We do not provide DMW recruitment-agency vetting (use the official DMW portal). We do not offer visa-processing services or balikbayan-box shipping — those are the role of licensed forwarders and consular offices.
